This is one hell of a day already

For those who don't know I work in a IS dept at a health care facility. Because of my job I get to carry a pager. What this means is that if something goes wrong with our computers or the network, I get paged to call the hospital. Now this pays pretty good even if you don't get paged. So being the greedy single parent that I am, I chose to carry the pager when ever they will let me.
Which means that I get to carry it at least once a month. And you carry it from friday until the next friday. So I have the pager this week.
It has not been too bad. I had a couple pages this weekend and was able to remote in from home and take care of the problems. Then I had a page this morning, about 6:15. I was already awake so I just had to get out of bed and remote in and clear a printer que. But the printer would not work so I got dressed and woke the girls up and told them they would have to walk to the bus stop, and came on in to work.

Then the shit hit the fan, we started getting calls that a server was down. Then other servers, and we had to page the boss and the network admin to come in. Ended up being a power problem in a switch closet. But we just got our connection to the internet back up about 30 minutes ago. So I have been on the phone all morning explaining why the internet was down to folks who should have been working and not surfing the internet! Don't they know that is our job. We can surf the web and blog all day, but they need to get there asses to work!!!
Really has been fun here this morning. I like when the day starts up with a bang, hell it is almost lunch time and we just took our first break of the day!

So that has been my exciting day. And it looks like it will only get better.
