Parents
Ah Parents, we all have at least a set, and with extended families now days some have 2 sets. I was wondering what your parents are like? Do you think you had good parents, or bad parents? Where your parents around when you needed them, where they around all the time? Did you ever want to just get rid of your parents?
Do you think your parents did a good job raising you? Are do you feel like your parents where just in your way most of the time?
I found out yesterday that my dad, who i have not had any type of a relationship since i was a young man, is in the hospital and could be dieing. My sister contacted me at work and said that he was in ICU and she was told that he is in a bad way. Now since i have not been in close contact with him, i had mixed feelings about this. My sister had written him off along time ago, and she was very upset that he is in the hospital. I know he is our dad, but i was suprised that she was so upset.
I talked to my boss and explained the situation and he said to take all the time off i needed and go to the hospital as soon as i could. So i went to my mom's house and she my sister and I went to the hospital. Now my mom has been divorced from this man for over 30 years. But she went to ICU with us, and she even cried when my sister broke down. It was something that really hit me hard. I am not one to cry very often, and i dont have a problem with people that do, but it brought tears to my eyes to see my family upset like that.
I have written a few things on this blog about my mom, but not many. I feel very blessed to have been raised by a mom, that made mistakes but took responsibility for them. She had us in church most everytime the doors where open when we where children. She was very open about sex, drugs and drinking. Even as an adult i have asked my mom about relationships and sex and she has always tried her best to answer them with the utmost honesty. We had a stepdad when we where growing up, who turned out not to be the best guy in the world, my mom has apoligized more times that she should for putting us in that situation.
To this day she is a god fearing woman and cares very much about her family. So i guess as far as my mom is concerened i did have a pretty good role model. And i am thankful for that!
So if your parents are still kicking, call them today and tell them how much you love and appreciate the things they did for you, you never know it might be the last chance you get to tell them.
Later
Twisted
